Engr. (Dr.) Omokehinde Deji-Akinpelu (MNSE, MNIEEE, MNIWIIT)


Omokehinde Oluwaseun DEJI-AKINPELU, fondly called Pst Kennie or Dr. Kennie; had her first degree in Computer Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and later proceeded to University of Ibadan for a Master degree in Computer Science and also bagged her PhD degree from the same University.

She is a certified engineer with The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a Corporate Member of The Nigerian Society of Nigeria (NSE). She served as the Membership and Welfare Secretary of Nigerian Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE) Ibadan Chapter. She is the current Publicity Secretary of the same professional institution and the Welfare officer of Nigerian Women in Information Technology, Oyo State chapter. She is a Student Scholarship Application Reviewer, Grace Hopper Celebration (AnitaB.org), 2021. She is also a peer-reviewed for 2023 International Conference of the Society for the Advancement of ICT & Comparative Knowledge (SOCTHADICK). She has notable publications in learned journals and conference proceedings. Her field of specialization is Data Communications and Networks. Her research interests are on Internet of Things/Mobile Adhoc Networks, Cyber security and health-informatics.


She is passionate about teenagers and youth especially the female gender. She is the Executive Director of Shining Stars Global Impact Foundation a.k.a. Shining Stars Initiative International (SSII), a mentoring and capacity building initiative for teenagers and youth. It is an educational and empowering platform that teaches, imparts and builds the younger generation. SSII is a non-gender-biased and nonprofit organisation.

She runs The King's Daughters Summit, an outreach program for females at tertiary level of education. She also coordinates Wisemasterbuilder where she reaches out to women across all walks of life. She hosts Shining Stars, a monthly mentoring session, for undergraduates. She is a volunteer with Tech Girls Club for female students in Science and Technology. She is also a volunteer counselor in some private secondary schools. She is the author of Barrier Breaker, an inspirational book for youth and adults; challenging them to become all they are meant to be regardless of their background and the vicissitudes of life.

She was formerly in the industry before her passion to impart knowledge on the younger generation drove her into academics. It was the passion coupled with her drive to bring out the best in her students that led her to start a mentoring forum for undergraduates in 2014 while lecturing at Lead City University. The mentoring forum later grew into SSII.

She currently lectures at Dominican University, Samoda, Ibadan. She is the General Coordinator for Computer Science Programs in the institution. She serves at various capacities within the institutions such as Adhoc Committee of Academic Partnership/Collaboration/Affiliation, Gender Mainstreaming Committee, Faculty Curriculum Committee and Media &Public Relations Committee.

She speaks at conferences and summits on issues relating to females, youths and STEM. She is happily married to Revd. Deji Akinpelu, the Lead Pastor of Everlasting Light Church, Ibadan, Nigeria and they are blessed with children. She loves singing and catering for people. She is a wife, mother, leader, teacher, researcher and youth coach.
