When I saw the Summit on the DP of the convener, I knew it was a programme my girls and I must not miss.
I had been having difficulty in balancing my children's school activities with their personal study time. Most times,
I felt I was putting much burden on them with studying after they come back from school. But from SSII today’s Summit,
I have learned so much. Now I am better informed as a parent and now know how to strike a balance. I have decided to be
intentional and be disciplined enough to guide and encourage my girls go through the process because it will yield a
great reward at the end of the day. I was really impressed with the speakers, I learnt a great deal from their personal
experience. Although SSII Summits are for teenagers and youth, parents with their
young adults should endeavour to attend the subsequent ones. I am sure, they will not regret coming. I did not.
Ugonna Idika Ukairo (SSII Graduate Mentor)
I am from Abia State and I just concluded my masters in Computer Science,
at the University of Ibadan. I am one of SSII graduate mentors and I attended the just concluded SSII Summit
titled Exceeding against All Odds.
Being passionate about excellence and knowledge, I came with a hunger to know how to excel against all odds.
Having gone through the Summit, I have seen that there's nothing that can limit me except me, and every limitation
I'm supposed to push them and move forward.
If you have not heard about SSII, either as a parent or young adult, you are really missing something. SSII is
into mentoring young minds, helping them to achieve their dreams. Visit our website and watch out for our subsequent
programs, you will surely learn a lot. All our programs are really mind-blowing and fascinating.
Plan to be a part of it and your life will not remain the same.
Esther Ibironke (Awaiting Admission)
From today’s Summit, I learnt to always take advantage of any opportunity.
I have also seen that it is important not to be overconfident but always strive to be the
best in every aspect of life. I must aim high and dream big. I learnt to keep trying till I
master my act. I learnt to take responsibility
to lead and impact others. I must not allow any condition define who I am.
Damilola Abayo (Secondary School Student)
I heard about this SSII program in my school and I am happy to be here today.
I have learned how to achieve my goals. I advise young people that, the fact that they are
young does not mean they cannot achieve much. Here I have seen that even if we have made
mistakes, we can still correct them and become better and responsible.
Adu Temidayo (Secondary School Student)
I learnt about Excelling against All Odds from my mum. I did not know what the programme was all about
until I got here. I learnt that you should not limit yourself no matter the circumstances or challenges. I have also
learnt how to see challenges as opportunities. I have realised that SSII mentors young people. I would like to advise
young people out
there to make it to the next programme because they will not only learn so much, they can also be mentored here.
Wisdom Oyor (Undergraduate, University of Ibadan)
One profound thing I took, and can't forget, is the 4 hour rule which proved from person to person,
to be effective in bringing significant positive change to one's grades. I learnt that you can be anything, once
you can dream of it, and put in the work it demands. I learnt the power of accountability, because when you
know you have someone to report to at the end of the week, it helps you to be more diligent and focused.
